POEMS BY DR. WILSON

 TRUE VISION
When thou has a vision. Surround thine self with people who know more than thou.
For standing upon their shoulders, thou shall see farther and move faster.
True, thou might be the head, being the visioner. But every idea does not have to emanate from thee.
When they generate ideas, do not feel inferior or intimidated. For the glory eventually returns to thee.
For when thou begin to show signs of intimidation and apprehension, they shall flee and abandon thee at the level of thine mediocrity. And soon thine vision shall stagnate and go six-feet below, to feast with rotten maggots.

THE VACUUM THEORY.
You are either pursuing your dream, or someone is using you to pursue his own dream.
You are either making money or someone is using you to make money and paying you peanuts in the name of "salary" and "allowances".
The future belongs to those who dare to dream and put in their all, to see it come to pass.
Nature abhors vacuum.
You either fulfill your destiny, or someone uses you to fulfill his.

TEARS OF JOY
Out of my hands it flew
Like a bird in the sky
My expectations, like a vapour
Vanished before my eyes

Tears of loss
Rolled down my cheek
My heart broken
My world in shreds

But now I look back
And thank my stars
For i lost a sparrow
To gain an eagle

So I learnt
That some loss I must suffer
That some gain I must harvest

So when next a sparrow flies out of my hands
I await patiently the arrival of an eagle

For if I weep un-end
Tears might block my eyes
And loose the eagle
Like I lost the sparrow.

MY BEST FRIEND
I expose
My dreams
My hidden fears
My shortcomings
My shameful past
My weaknesses
To you, my best friend
But behind the curtains
You pulled the carpet
beneath my feet.
And lay me flat, naked
Ridicule on my skin

Help me oh Lord to rise
For now I've learnt
To bridle my tongue
And trust, but me
For my best friend is me.

MADIBA @ 94!

As today
You clock 94
We remember your many struggles
Putting your life on line
That your race might be liberated
And when the sweat of your struggles
Yielded the fruits of power
You refused a second term
But stayed off-power
To nurture men to pursue you dream nation

Sometimes we wonder
If indeed you are an African
But one thing we are certain of;
That you are an image
Of dream-leadership
In this continent
Of self-centered messiahs.

Happy birthday Madiba
KEEPING ON...
Yesterday,
I looked at the future with awe.
The anxiety
Of what tomorrow will bring
The many obstacles
That barricade my dreams
And make my vision looked
Like castles in the air

But I kept on
One step at a time
Sometimes, a step too slow
Yet I kept on.

Today I look back at yesterday
And see how far I've come
The many obstacles
I've overcome
That yesterday appeared intimidating

Now I know
that the way to the top
Is a step at a time
Taken consistently
Taken diligently
For the tallest of mountains
Will give way
If I keep keeping on...

AGONY OF MATYRDOM
My life
A mystery from onset
The twenty-third child
of my parents
Yet the first
To survive infancy.
They simply called me
'Kashimawo'...let's watch and see, if he would also go
the way of others.
I was not even properly named
Until I was 15
When they christened me Moshood.

My early life
A pinnacle of struggles
For the poverty I behold
I combated to wealth
And blessed the nation
With unrivaled philanthropy.

Political power...
My vision to perish poverty
And make the common man
A being of value.

I stood and won
Mandate to liven the poor
And catapult Nigeria
In committee of nations

Yet the powers that be
My close associates
Denied me my mandate
And sent me
To this land of no-return.

This democracy you now enjoy
Was watered by my blood
But even those who stepped on my flesh to power
Refused to acknowledge me.

Now you demonstrate with placards
And condemn in vituperation
The one that seek
To immortalize me

I fought a good fight
Died for a cause I believe
But here in my grave
I sometimes wonder
If this nation
Is worth dying for.

MELODIES OF SORROW
We are air hostesses
So proud to be
This our life aspiration
To bring you joy on air

This job
Some say is risky
But for every occupation
There is a hazard

But this Dana Air hazard,
One hazard too risky
A couple of emergency landings,
Loud sounds from the propeller
like explosions of ballistic missiles

Yet we train
To calm your nerves and utter with a smile
"thanks for choosing Dana Air"

Even on that fateful day
Third June, 2012
When we first flew Lagos-Abuja
The plane shook seriously
Thrice on air
And the engine ceased for 30 seconds

Yet on landing
We sooth our passengers
And utter yet with a smile;
"thanks for flying Dana Air"

Now,
We are history
No passengers to sooth
We stand now naked
Before Judgement throne
To give account of our earthly deeds
Like someday you will.

This throne we know all
Mortals shall face
But not so soon
Not so young
Dana Air brought us here
Sooner than we envisaged.

LAMENTATIONS OF AN AIRCRAFT
My name is MD 83
I was manufactured in 1990
Acquired by Alaska airline

For 12 years
I served my masters
With might and strength
And made them smile
To the banks

Until November 4, 2002
When I developed engine faults
And had to make emergency diversion
due to smoke in my cabin
Passengers disembarked alive.

On August 20, 2006
I was again evacuated after landing at the Long Beach, CA
Again,
due to smoke in my cabin
Passengers disembarked alive

Concerned about my air worthiness
Alaska Airline parked me
Until Sept. 11, 2008 for repairs
And shifted my burdens to Dana Air, Nigeria
On February, 2009

On arrival
On the tropical shores of Africa
I hid not my state of health

On May 3, 2012
A Lagos station manager
Said I should be grounded for a check-up
That alarm was ignored

On May 11, 2012
I made an air return and emergency landing at MM2
Passengers disembarked alive

On May 25, 2012
Again, I made an air return and emergency landing due to engine failure
Passengers disembarked alive

And finally on June 3, 2012
I crashed in Iju, 5-6 nautical miles from touch down, killing all 153 passengers on board and 30 on ground

After 22 years
Of meritorious service
I wished my masters listened
And let me rest

Now I put tears
In the eyes of a nation

But come to think of it,
If Alaska Air
Considered me unfit
To fly Americans
Why should Dana Air
Consider me worthy
To fly Nigerians?
RICH DEATH, POOR FOLKS
We are poor
This we know

The rich abode in Lekki, VGC, GRA, Ikoyi....
We take our humble abode
In Iju

We have no business
With aero planes
That is a luxury for the rich

But alas
In our humble one-room apartments,
Came a bang, flames and tears
Death so cheap

Now we see
That no death is secluded for the rich
For fangs of death
Is no respecter of status

FLIGHT OF DEATH...
He waved 'goodbye'
But did not add 'forever'

She smiled heartily
At the loved one who saw her
To the airport
But did not say, 'it is the last'

Calls, ping, texts...
Yet no clairvoyance
That it would be the last

Enveloped
In this flying casket

Sooner,
We see vultures
Drumming across the sky

Then screams, deafening
For help
Shouts to high heavens

Yet entrapped
Help afar of

And alas...
A bang, enflamed.

Now it is late
To do a thing
We are gone
Just tears in your eyes.

But this loss
So preventable.

Our souls cry foul
That we fall in our prime
Yet we hope
That this fate befalls not you

The answer to this prayer
Lies not in "amen"
But in doing what is expedient
By all and saundry
Lest sooner, others yet weep
Over souls
That weep for us today.

HELP ME JESUS...

You came, spotless
And bore my sins
Of generations of yore
Of generations unborn
You shed your blood
That my iniquities
Be cleansed.
By your stripes
I am healed

Help me, oh Yeshua
That your sacrifice over me
Might not go to waste
That daily I walk
In the light of your words
For I fear
That this love turneth sour
And your eyes, enflamed
At the throne of judgement.
Help me to hear not "depart"!
But that I hear "welcome faithful servant"
This oh Lord,
I pray...

THE PRICE...

Yeshua...
The Son of the Most High
He paid the price
Bore the shame

Today all over the world, we celebrate Him.
Are you also ready to pay the price to see your dreams come through?
Are you ready to bear the inconveniences and discomfort that go with pursuing that dream?
Remember, only price payers are prize winners.

Happy Good Friday to you all.

WHO?

Who
shall rescue me
From this state of squalor

Who
shall lift me up
To my land of dreams

Who

shall lift my beacon
For the world to behold?

Who?

Relations

Turn the other way

Friends

Have forgotten me

People

Promises in thrash-can

Who?

Sonorous , solemn

HE echoes in my mind...

The key to rise

Lies in YOU

Until you throw up yourself

You remain a specimen

Move

Help meets you on the way

For when the student is ready

The Master shows up...

Dr. Thomas S. Wilson

(c2012).

WHEN ?

When will my status change?

I have been
around this mountain
For too long!

People all around me
Moving upward
To their next levels
Yet I stagnate...

When will my status change?

In tears I slept
And in dreamland
I behold an angel
White as snow
Huge as a giant
Whisper solemn in my ears...

Your status will change
When you change...

When you dare to dream
And stake your life
On your dream

When you develop your mind
That your eyes
May see when others look

When you drop
Friends that kill your dream
And friend they that live their dreams

So ask not
When your status will change

But ask
When you will be ready
To change your status

For the power of WHEN
lies within your palm.

HOW ?

How did I get here?

Yesterday, I was somewhere
Far from here...
Today, i am here

How did I get here?

Just from outer space
I heard a voice
Sonorous
In my wandering ears say:

"you are here today
Because of the seeds
You sowed
Or failed to sow, yesterday"

So now i know
That daily I sow
The seeds of my destiny

The secret of my tomorrow
Lies in my daily routine
And the seeds I sow today.
For I am the architect
Of my destiny!

Dr Thomas S. Wilson

FIRST-STEP
My dreams as high
As the crest of Kilimanjaro

My vision as infinite
As the cloud in the skies

My imagination
As deep as the belly
Of the Atlantic

Yet, until I move
Nothing moves

For my beautiful dreams
Remaineth but an illusion

My ecstatic vision becomes
A dictum of frustration

For nothing moves
Until i move

For until i dare
To take the first step

I remain but a dreamer...

AGAINST ALL ODDS
 Against the odds, I glide.
Tongues against my feet.
 Barricades on my path.
 Forces of envy.
Cook up tales to zero me.
 Yet I soar.
Like the eagle in the sky.
  For I learnt.
 That detractors.
Are no worse than praise singers
 ---- (TS Wilson) .

NEW YEAR RESOLUTION
My boat sails against my wish.
Yet I wait. .
My feet glide me.
In directions at variance.
With destiny.
Yet I wait.
I wait till 31st December.
To make a resolution.
Now I know painfully, that all days are same.
So, whenever my wheels roll against my being, I resolve

MAKE MERRY !
Life is a journey.
As we sojourn along this road, some smooth, some bumpy.
That way it shall remain, for as long as we have breath in us.
Why then must I be depressed, over this present challenge?
Like other previous challenges, it shall come to pass
...DR. WILSON
TOO NICE!
He dots on me
Bears all things
Discomforted for my sake
Sings my praise
Showers me with gifts

But under the eclipse
Of the moon shadow
Stabbed me in the neck

Now I've learnt
With tears in my eyes
That when Someone
Gets TOO NICE...
I get suspicious

ABUNDANCE.
The secret of abundance Is to give in abundance To men that require Of your abundance.
Even if you are not. In abundance.
For when the Creator sees.
That you withold not.
Of your abundance.
He showers you.
With even more abundance.
To benefit His creation..DR. WILSON
THE "EMBER" MONTHS
Behold
The dawn of a new season
The months of the "ember" fame
Some behold it
With Fear and Trembling
Others with utter apprehension.
Many lives they say
Are swallowed
In the daunting hurricane
Of the season.
But unto us that know Him
His banner over us
Is SURE.
...Dr. Thomas S. Wilson
 ADVISE
Thanks for the ADVICE
But I've seen
That man's advice
Is based on what they see
Heard or read.
But your totality
May differ from mine.
So when you advice me
I look at you
Your circumstances
And what you've been through
For out of the abundance
Of your situation
Proceedeth forth your advice.
Once again
Thanks for your advice
You gave it from YOUR point of view
But I shall process it
In view of MY DESTINY
...Dr. T.S. Wilson

TRY AGAIN
Show me a man.
Who has never fallen.
And I will show you a Goliath.
Who when he falls.
Might never rise again.
For LEADERSHIP is not.
All about perfection.
But the ability.
To retrace your steps.
When intoxicants of power.
 Blow you off course
.... DR. WILSON
